The learning and evaluation situation "Troubled Waters" is part of the environmental and consumption studies program, focusing on the development of cross-curricular competencies such as adopting effective work methods.

Through this educational journey, students are encouraged to explore concepts of power, social inequalities, racism and colonialism, as well as environmental inequalities, with the aim of understanding and analyzing the complex dynamics that govern our society and our relationship with the environment.

The initiation of this LES is done by demystifying myths and realities surrounding water in Quebec, through an interactive quiz. This initial activity sets the stage for reflection on current environmental issues, particularly those related to access to potable water.

The first task invites students to formulate questions and seek answers to explore the different dimensions of environmental inequalities related to water in Quebec. This approach aims to raise awareness among young people about existing disparities and encourage them to think of viable solutions.

In the second task, "Blue Gold," students are invited to explore and discuss water-related issues from various perspectives. This multidimensional approach enhances the understanding of the issues and promotes critical awareness.

The third task, "It's a Matter of Energy," asks students to write a text reflecting their understanding of the relationship between Hydro-Québec and the Indigenous peoples of Quebec, highlighting the power issues and the impact of energy policies on communities.

The final task involves creating a visual aid that highlights the ethical issues surrounding a natural resource, encouraging students to critically examine resource management and the social and environmental consequences of our collective choices.

Through "Troubled Waters," students are encouraged to develop a sharp social and environmental awareness, while acquiring essential skills to become responsible and engaged citizens.
