Dive into the world of "Voting: A Rite of Passage," an exceptional Learning and Evaluation Situation (LES) offered by Dokoma Editions for Secondary 5 students within the Quebec Culture and Citizenship program.

This LES, nestled in the heart of the Quest for Meaning and Worldviews component, invites students to explore the foundations of democracy, freedom of expression, social commitment, and the choices that shape adulthood.

"Voting: A Rite of Passage" is designed to awaken young people's critical awareness of their role in society and encourage them to exercise their voting rights in an informed manner. From the start, "Why Vote?", students are invited to reflect on essential democratic questions, opening up the debate on the importance of active participation in civic life.

The first task, "No to Censorship!", spurs a committed debate on freedom of expression, a fundamental pillar of our society. Following that, "The Professions of Politics" leads students to quantify the importance of specific values to Quebec political parties, helping them understand the alignment between their personal convictions and party propositions.

The third task, "Voting Yes, No, or Blank?", is a persuasive exercise where students write a text aiming to convince their peers of the importance of voting or the reasons to abstain, highlighting the issues and responsibilities associated with the exercise of voting rights.

The final task, "Our Political Party," is a creative project where students develop a political program addressing an ethical situation, allowing them to structure their ideas and defend their values in a formal framework.

"Voting: A Rite of Passage" is not just an LES; it's an educational journey towards civic maturity and an invitation to become active and responsible citizens, ready to contribute to the construction of a democratic society. Dokoma Editions provides an indispensable pedagogical tool to accompany young people through this crucial stage of their personal and social development.
