Within the framework of the educational program aimed at equipping students with essential critical and analytical skills, the Learning and Evaluation Situation (LES) "Quest for Knowledge" presents itself as a rewarding opportunity to dive into the depths of human knowledge.

This LES focuses on the complex relationship between different types of knowledge and their influence on our perception of the world, firmly rooted in the general education domain "Media" and leveraging the cross-curricular competency "Exploiting Information".

The main concepts around which this LES is organized are the forms of knowledge, philosophies, ideologies, and sciences. It aims to make students understand that knowledge, distinguished by its production process such as philosophical reflection, scientific approach, or religious belief, are not mere inert data. They are dynamic, alive, and shape our way of understanding the world and interacting with it.

The LES begins with a captivating introduction: "True or False?", where students are invited to distinguish between false and true photos, highlighting the ease with which information can be manipulated in our digital era. This activity serves as a starting point for a deeper reflection on the reliability of information and the importance of developing a critical mind.

Task 1, "Is it really me who chooses?", immerses students in a group discussion about their values, fashions, trends, and conformism, encouraging them to examine how social and cultural knowledge influences their personal choices.

Task 2, "Believe or Know?", stages a debate between two parties, one defending the importance of individual knowledge and the other the importance of belief imposed by a group. This task aims to highlight the tensions between personal knowledge and collective beliefs and encourages students to reflect on the source of their own convictions.

In Task 3, "Help! There are too many -isms in my life", students are tasked with creating a diagram that links different political ideologies in Quebec, highlighting their commonalities and differences. This activity helps to understand the diversity of ideological perspectives and their impact on society.

The final task, "Conspiracy Inquiry", pushes students to investigate the origin, reason, and techniques of false information. They are then tasked with creating a piece of false information and explaining its origin, reason, and the techniques used, thus fostering a deep understanding of the mechanisms behind disinformation and the importance of fact-checking in our quest for meaning.

"Quest for Knowledge" is an LES that engages students on a journey through the different landscapes of knowledge, equipping them to navigate discerningly in a world saturated with diverse information and perspectives.
