LES "Nature Speaks to Us": A Pedagogical Journey into Ecological Transition

As part of the "Culture and Quebec Citizenship" program, dedicated to education and innovative pedagogy, the Learning and Evaluation Situation (LES) "Nature Speaks to Us" is an invitation for grade 5 and 6 students to explore ecological transition. Anchored in general areas of training such as Environment and Consumption, and the cross-curricular competency to implement creative thinking, this LES aims to sensitize young minds to future collective choices and the challenges of ecological transition.

Curriculum Connection: An Education for the Future

"Nature Speaks to Us" integrates seamlessly into the curriculum, focusing on key concepts such as ecological transition and future collective choices. It addresses crucial issues like climate change, collective decisions, ecological initiatives at various levels, as well as the protection of biodiversity and traditional ways of life.

Initiating Reflection: Secrets of Biodiversity

The LES begins with a stimulating discussion about biodiversity, using captivating images to unveil its secrets. This introduction is designed to awaken curiosity and respect for the natural richness of our planet, laying the foundation for deep reflection on our relationship with the environment.

Engaging Tasks: From Theory to Practice

Task 1: Endangered Species in Quebec

Students are invited to research information about endangered species in our province and fill out a detailed sheet on one of them. This task aims to personalize learning and develop empathy towards local wildlife.

Task 2: Solutions to Protect Biodiversity

Through this activity, students discover concrete measures for biodiversity preservation. They are then asked to express, in 100 words, their reflections or proposals, thus encouraging personal expression and awareness of possible individual and collective actions.

Final Task: Green Scene - Our Play for the Planet

In the culmination of the LES, students, in teams, engage in creating a short play focused on biodiversity. This final task not only synthesizes learning in a creative way but also develops skills in communication, teamwork, and creativity.

Why Choose "Nature Speaks to Us"?

Adopting this LES means choosing an educational path that values interaction with the environment, encourages active student engagement, and promotes critical reflection on current ecological issues. "Nature Speaks to Us" is more than just a school activity; it's an educational adventure that leaves a lasting impression, shapes responsible citizens of tomorrow, and contributes to the development of a sustainable future.

Invite your students to embark on this enriching educational journey and become agents of change in ecological transition. Together, let's explore, learn, and transform our world, one LES at a time.
