Within the Quebec Culture and Citizenship (CCQ) program for Secondary 1, the learning and evaluation situation (LES) titled "Eco-Friendly Travel, Is It Possible?" invites students to consider their environmental impact through the lens of travel and tourism.

This LES, aligned with the "Environment and Consumption" training domain, encourages young people to use their creative thinking to consider eco-responsible solutions in collective life and public spaces.

The introduction to this educational unit uses "Around the World in 80 Days" to question past modes of transport through a quiz, laying the groundwork for reflection on the evolution of transportation means and their environmental impact.

The first task leads students to debate the necessity of travel, highlighting the implications of tourism on the climate. This discussion aims to raise awareness of the importance of choosing greener transportation methods and considering the impact of our travels.

In the second task, "History of Travel and Means of Locomotion," students explore various modes of transportation and discuss those to prioritize based on specific contexts, thus encouraging reflection on adapting our travel choices to the climate emergency.

The third task addresses environmental ethics through an analysis of carbon tax, enabling students to understand mechanisms designed to hold individuals and communities accountable for their CO2 emissions.

Finally, the task "Conducting a Carbon Footprint Assessment" confronts students with the ecological consequences of the transportation used, prompting them to think about ways to reduce their carbon footprint in their travels.

Through "Eco-Friendly Travel, Is It Possible?", the CCQ program aims to raise awareness among young people about the concept of eco-responsibility and encourage them to become change agents in their community by adopting more environmentally friendly behaviors.

This LES represents an opportunity for awakening and commitment for Secondary 1 students, preparing them to make informed decisions for a sustainable future.
