Your Judgment | 6th Grade | Educational Resources on Alcohol Consumption | French Only
The transition from elementary to secondary school is a pivotal period for young people, marked by new challenges and exposure to a variety of influences, especially concerning alcohol consumption.
In this context, the learning and evaluation situation (SAÉ) "Your Judgment – 6th Grade", focused on ethics and religious culture, becomes an essential educational tool. This SAÉ aims to equip students to deal with peer pressure, helping them understand the various influences and to assert themselves positively.
At the heart of this educational approach is the desire to sensitize students to the realities they will face upon entering secondary school. Peer influences, often intensified during this transition period, can lead young people to adopt risky behaviors, including early alcohol consumption. "Your Judgment" therefore offers a framework for reflection and dialogue around ten key questions, embodied in a reflective game and a comic strip titled "Who's Right?". These tools foster group discussion and guide students in understanding the different types of influence, with a particular focus on alcohol consumption.
The SAÉ perfectly aligns with the objectives of the Québec Education Program from the MEES, touching on general training areas such as health, well-being, and media. It aims at developing ethical competencies, specifically the ability to reflect on ethical questions (C1) and to practice dialogue (C3), emphasizing the role of individuals within society.
The duration of this learning situation is three periods of 75 minutes each, thus providing ample time for an in-depth exploration of the themes addressed. Teachers and parents are encouraged to use this tool to prepare students to face peer pressure in an informed and thoughtful manner, highlighting the consequences of their personal choices on their health and well-being.
This SAÉ represents a unique opportunity for teachers and parents eager to engage in meaningful conversations with young people about alcohol consumption and its impact. By providing a safe framework for expression and reflection, "Your Judgment" encourages young people to become responsible members of society, capable of making informed decisions in the face of challenges that await them.
