Edmond Rostand
Edmond Rostand (1868-1918) is a French writer, playwright, poet and essayist born in Marseille. He comes from a bourgeois commercial and banking family; he is the son of economist Eugène Rostand and Angèle Gayet, and the great-grandson of Alexis-Joseph Rostand, a mayor of Marseille. Cyrano de Bergerac is his most famous work.
