SAÉ 1 "What is Love" from the Relationships and Caring component of the CCQ program for Secondary 4 invites students to explore the multiple facets of love and interpersonal relationships. This SAÉ aims to develop a deep understanding of emotions, expectations, and behaviors related to love while promoting respect and caring in interactions.

The Introduction: Who Suffers? engages students in a reflection on the emotional aspects of love, encouraging them to share their perceptions of the joys and pains that romantic relationships can bring. This sets the stage for open and empathetic discussions.

Activity 1: Between the Lines of Love offers an analysis of various artistic expressions such as songs, poems, or film excerpts that deal with love. Students are prompted to decipher implicit and explicit messages about relationships, enhancing their critical thinking and ability to interpret media influences.

In Activity 2: The Escalation of Violence, students address the sensitive topic of violence in intimate relationships. They learn to identify warning signs and understand the mechanisms that lead to escalating violence. The goal is to raise awareness and prevent such behaviors by encouraging healthy relationships.

Activity 3: Expectations Related to Sexuality invites discussion on social pressures and gender stereotypes that influence sexual expectations. Students explore notions of consent, mutual respect, and open communication to promote responsible and fulfilling sexuality.

Finally, the Final Activity: Whose Fault Is It? encourages reflection on individual and collective responsibility in relationships. By analyzing complex situations, students are guided to understand the various factors that can lead to conflicts, strengthening their ability to manage relationships constructively.

This SAÉ offers a comprehensive approach to help students navigate the challenges of romantic relationships with maturity and caring, developing essential skills in communication, empathy, and critical reflection.
