Macaire Etty

Macaire Etty is an Ivorian writer and teacher born on July 5, 1967, in Bocanda. A certified modern literature teacher and graduate of the École normale supérieure, he taught for over 20 years before being promoted to Chief Inspector. Macaire is also an avid advocate of books and reading, working as a literary columnist, publisher, and lecturer.

Several of his works, including Pour le bonheur des miens, Talouablé, and La Geste de Bréké, are incorporated into the Ivorian school curriculum. La Geste de Bréké earned him an award at the Grands prix des associations littéraires in 2017. His teaching career has led him to work in various high schools in Côte d'Ivoire, as well as the Ministry of National Education.

Elected president of the Association of Writers of Côte d'Ivoire in 2016, he was reappointed to the position in 2019. He has also served as the general director of Kamit editions. Macaire began his literary career by writing poems and supervising literature and theater clubs in the schools where he taught.

His work primarily addresses African greatness and dignity, exploring the deepest and most powerful aspects of Africa. Macaire Etty has established himself as an essential writer, highlighting African culture through his novels, poems, and plays.
